Welcome to Holiday Cookery Courses


Enjoy a luxury gourmet holiday, a weekend foodie break or a day cooking course in the glorious French Alps. Our various breaks & courses combine a mixture of demonstration, cooking lessons, restaurant & market visits, wine tastings, foodie treats, personal training & yoga sessions, and relaxing treats like a spa trip.


Holiday Cookery Courses are run by Emma Lawrenson, private chef & owner of www.chamchef.com and www.holidaycookerycourses.com.


"After moving to the Chamonix valley in 2010 to work as a private chef I fell in love with the stunningly beautiful French Alps, and the fantastic outdoor lifestyle so I decided to make the valley my home. Chamonix is the most inspiring place and I’m still blown away by the incredible beauty of the valley in the summer and by the quality and diversity of the local produce and the rich food heritage of the area. Being on the border with Italy & Switzerland means we have the best of the food culture of all three countries.


Sharing those experiences with other food lovers was my inspiration and motivation for setting up Holiday Cookery Courses."


Accommodation is in a variety of luxury chalets and locations. Location depends on the course duration, course numbers and course type. Weekend & week long residential courses are run in high-end luxury chalets - see our chalet selection here. Day courses may be at my house, at an artisan bread makers, with a local farmer, in a restaurant kitchen or in one of the luxury chalets we use.


Day courses run with minimum 5 booked in. Week residential courses run with minimum 6 booked in. So why not get a group of you together and arrange a private, bespoke break when it suits you?


We also run some special one-off popup holidays - Food & Jazz at Montreaux festival and Food & Jazz at Cosmo Jazz festival, run pop-up day courses in unusual locations, and will do a pop up holiday in Spain featuring Food, Kite surfing & Climbing at the end of summer. Whilst I am a classically French trained chef I am also passionate about eating well. I work with various coaches, triathletes & clients in training or who have specific dietray needs. I also have considerable experience of vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, lactose-free, raw diets and have worked through a number of exclusion & FODMAP diets with clients.


Whatever style I am cooking in though, I love the challenge of making food delicious and nutritious, and am passionate about sourcing exceptional quality, fresh, sustainable, preferably local produce.
